I recently went on a dinner scouting trip with two of my favorite people, M and B, to Maple Acres Farm in Plymouth Meeting, PA. We were looking for inspiration and ingredients for the Summer Grilling Party we were planning. We came up all aces. Piles of tomatoes, basket upon basket of zucchini, onions, carrots, broccoli, etc., and of course, stacks of sweet corn–picked fresh 3-4 times daily! They also have lovely fields where you can pick your own flowers as well as farm fresh eggs and meats.
We explored the cute farmhouse shop, discovered a beautiful bloomed lily in the pond, and were excited to see that they had won a Best of Philly 2013 prize for Best Hayride. I marked the tomatoes, farm-raised meats, and the cool garden rooster for a return visit and picked up three zucchini for a buck–the best price I’ve seen anywhere this season. At home, I whipped up Italian Zucchini Boats for dinner and a Parmesan Zucchini Bake to take on vacation.
I’ll be back again soon!
